Default Screen Freezing?

I was playing guild wars today, (or rather trying to) and after about two or three minutes my game would freeze. However, it doesn't freeze in a normal way; its only the screen.

Essentially, where I am, along with my heroes and henchman, stays the exact same with no movement...but if I were to use one of my skills or move around, I can still hear my movement and my skills activating, along with the music and everything else. I just can't see what I'm doing, and it keeps happening every time I log in and try to play.

My game was working perfectly fine yesterday. I am currently in honour hill trying to complete the "Gain Goren" quest. This bug is so bad that I can't even make the two minute trip to where he is.

Your GPU/CPU may be overheating. Blow all dust out of tower with compressed air. Then after that update GPU drivers and try out GameBooster:

To check your temps download Everest:

To check accurately, record your idle temperature. Then run the game for about 5-10 minutes and minimize the game. Then record temps. If the temps went up by a ton (15-20+ Celsius) then you need better cooling supplies inside your computer.

These days you can do fan cooling or water cooling. Water cooling is better for hardcore gamers but harder to maintain it. Fans are easy but they can die randomly.

Try and use Alt Tab to minimize the game, and then click on it to maximize it again, i get this exact same thing from time to time, only for me i think its because GW is being ran from an old Slave Drive, and the system doesnt like it.

Alright, thank you for the responses.

Actually, just simply restarting my computer fixed the problem, but my computer is about 6 years old now, so the overheating issue may be a legitimate one.

Like Brax said, try the methods for clearing out dust and keep an eye out for fishy looking high temperatures. If your machine is 6 and you've never cleaned it, nows the time. Could also be some hardware beginning to fail. I shoot for dust first, then drivers.
